You may be used to reading a particular translation of the Bible, such as the King James Version (KJV), the New International Version (NIV), the Jerusalem Bible (JB), or the New Revised Standard Version (NRSV). Each of these translations reflects the culture in which it was produced. As such, it is important to peruse other translations to see how various words or passages may be translated differently. Parallel editions contain multiple translation often with the original language. These enable you to compare different translations with ease. If you read another modern language, try reading the text in that language as well.
